IGUALDAD EN LAS PASARELAS / EQUALITY ON THE RUNWAY :
São Paulo Fashion Week released an official statement yesterday announcing that it has signed an agreement with the São Paulo Public Ministry to fight racial discrimination on the runways. According to the agreement, São Paulo Fashion Week has the legal duty to suggest that all designers and labels include at least 10% of black or indigenous models on the castings for the shows. While SPFW cannot enforce that designers comply with the quota, the event now has to contact designers 15 days prior to the shows and suggest the booking of black models.
The event will have to report to the Public Ministry 30 days after the shows, and can be fined in R$ 250K if the 10% quota is not met.
Castings for Fashion Rio started this week, and the new 10% quota is also being suggested to designers participating in the event. I am hoping the quota will bring about more racial diversity not only on the runways, but also in editorials and campaigns from this season forward.
Los organizadores de Sao Paulo Fashion Week (SPFW) -la principal cita de moda de Brasil- firmaron un acuerdo con el Ministerio Público que asegura un cupo mínimo del diez por ciento para modelos negros durante los desfiles de cada una de las marcas.
"No se trata de imponer un cupo racial, sino de incentivar la inclusión social en este sector", afirmó la fiscal Deborah Affonso, en declaraciones que publica hoy la agencia brasileña Estado.
Según Affonso, quien coordina el Grupo de Actuación Especial de Inclusión Social del Ministerio Público de Sao Paulo, la decisión de proponer un acuerdo a los organizadores de la SPFW fue tomada el año pasado, ante la escasa presencia de modelos negros e indígenas en los desfiles.El documento establece que las marcas que dejen de incluir a por lo menos un diez por ciento de modelos negros en sus desfiles tendrán que pagar una multa de 250.000 reales (unos 125.000 dólares).
El acuerdo fue festejado por modelos negras, como Juliana Nepomuceno, de 18 años de edad, quien se quejó del "prejuicio" existente en el mundillo de alta moda en Brasil.
"El prejuicio existe en todas partes, pero es en mi país que enfrento más dificultades para trabajar. Hasta en China e Italia, donde yo creía que las puertas estarían siempre cerradas, la belleza negra es más admirada", expresó Nepomuceno, en declaraciones a la agencia.Idéntica opinión expresó el director de la agencia HDA Models, Helder Días, quien tiene entre sus contratados a unos 250 modelos negros: "En la moda, el prejuicio es evidente".
Nuestra agencia completó nueve años de existencia. Durante todo este período, la frase que más escuché fue la de que el modelo (negro) no atiende al perfil (buscado) y no representa el cliente", agregó.

CANNES FILM FESTIVAL 2009 :
Austrian director Michael Haneke's somber drama "The White Ribbon" claimed the top prize Sunday at the Cannes Film Festival, where Quentin Tarantino and Lars von Trier entries earned the acting honors.
It was a big night for Austria, whose triumphs included Christoph Waltz as best actor for Tarantino's World War II epic "Inglourious Basterds." Charlotte Gainsbourg won the best-actress honor for von Trier's "Antichrist," a film that riled and repelled many Cannes viewers with its explicit images of physical abuse involving a grieving couple.
Haneke addressed his wife as he accepted his award, noting that "happiness is very rare." "This is one moment in my life in which I'm very happy, and so are you, I believe," said Haneke, who received the festival's Palme d'Or for his gorgeously photographed black-and-white tale. "The White Ribbon" examines themes of communal guilt, distrust and punishment among residents of a small German town besieged by tragedies and strange occurrences as World War I approaches.
The second-place grand prize went to French director Jacques Audiard's prison drama "A Prophet."
Gainsbourg delivers a terrifying performance as a psychotic woman torturing her husband (Willem Dafoe) and mutilating herself during a trip to the woods intended as a healing sojourn after the death of their child.
Waltz earned the best-actor award for his gleefully homicidal role as Nazi Col. Hans Landa, renowned in Germany as an ace "Jew hunter" in "Inglourious Basterds," Tarantino's rewrite of the history books that follows the exploits of a band of Jewish Allied commandos led by Brad Pitt.
"Above all I owe this to Hans Landa and his unique and inimitable creator, Quentin Tarantino," Waltz said. "You gave me my vocation back."

El sombrío drama del director austriaco Michael Haneke "The White Ribbon" ganó el domingo la Palma de Oro de la 62 edición del Festival de Cine de Cannes, en tanto los filmes de Quentin Tarantino y de Lars Van Trier consiguieron los galardones a la mejor actuación.
Fue una gran noche para Austria. Eso también incluyó el premio a la mejor actuación para Christoph Waltz, quien participó en el filme de Tarantino "Inglourious Basterds".
Charlotte Gainsbourg consiguió el premio a la mejor actriz por "Antichrist", de von Trier. La película disgustó a muchos espectadores en Cannes debido a sus imágenes explícitas de abuso físico. Haneke ganó el máximo galardón del festival por su relato magníficamente fotografiado en
blanco y negro, que examina temas de culpa colectiva, desconfianza y castigo entre los residentes de una pequeña ciudad alemana sitiada por tragedias y ocurrencias extrañas mientras se acerca la Primera Guerra Mundial.
El segundo premio más importante del festival fue para el drama de prisión "A Prophet", del director francés Jacques Audiard.

Gainsbourg tiene una excelente actuación como una psicótica que tortura a su esposo (Willem Dafoe) y se mutila durante un viaje a un área rural cuyo propósito inicial es curar su aflicción tras la muerte de su hijo.

Israelite born DJ & Producer Mor Avrahami proves himself with the long years as a growing talent in the electronic music scene. The effect of music came to Mor since he was young and with the time, Mor succeeded to grow up with his music career and at the same time bringing high quality sound to the House scene.
Mor is signed to one of the best dedicated labels in electronic music, “Bearlin Records”, where he ranks along many renowned artists such as Jose “Spinnin” Cortés and Isaac Escalante. He is now working with some of the biggest names in music all over the world. His credits as a music producer include productions for: Madonna, Suzanne Palmer, Offer Nissim, Maya Simantov, Deborah Cox, Jeanie Tracy, Amuka, Christina Aguilera, and David Guetta.
By the end of 2005, Mor release his first ‘HIT’ called ‘Music Made The Addict’.
The single received a warm debut in the electronic dance charts worldwide. After that Mor continued to produce more hits that stood out not less:
"Party People" with Altar feat. Jeannie Tracy, "Rotation"&"I Got Away" of Randy Friess, "Don’t Go Away" of Lidor, "Tell Me" of Christina Aguilera’ and "Delirious" of David Guetta.
