El edificio nació a principios del siglo XVII, y pocos años después la orden de San Agustín lo convirtió en uno de los primeros hospicios de América, donde los frailes de la orden se alojaban previo embarque hacia la cristianización de las Filipinas. En 1780, se adecuó el edificio tal y como reza en nuestra fachada y se bautizó cómo la Hostería de Santo Tomás de Villanueva. A partir de aquí, el edificio se enorgullece de haber vivido todos y cada uno de los momentos claves que marcan la historia de nuestra ciudad.Respirar el ambiente colonial dentro de la gran urbe de hierro, impregnarse de la historia y la cultura de aquella época, un oasis repleto de sensaciones... disfrutar de la elegancia con la que el diseño más actual se funde con el reconocido barroco mexicano.El Lounge Bar El Cielo, ubicado en el ático y con preciosas vistas a la Alameda, el punto de reunión indicado para los merecidos momentos de relax.

The hotel´s building was constructed at the beginning of the 17th century and a few years later the order of Saint Augustine converted it into one of the first hospices in the Americas, where the order’s monks were housed before embarking on missions to bring Christianity to the Philippines. In 1780, as indicated on our façade, the building was remodelled and baptised as the Hotel of Santo Tomás de Villanueva. Since then, the building has proudly stood through each and every key moment that has marked the history of our city. Breathe in the colonial atmosphere of the great city of iron, immerse yourself in the history and culture of that age, an oasis replete with sensations…enjoy the elegance with which the most modern design blends with the famous Mexican baroque. The lounge bar El Cielo, located in the attic with beautiful views of the Alameda is the perfect gathering point for those well-deserved times to unwind.
